Let me start off by greeting you guys a Merry Christmas! <(^-^)>
Singapore is hot and tropical, and there hasn’t been snow in Singapore since the last ice age. Even though we can't ski or build snowmen in Singapore during Christmas but Singapore is definitely a good place to celebrate your Singapore Christmas, and I will tell you why. This tiny island state has embraced the festive season and turned it into an art form.
Unlike some of the cold countries where Christmas is undoubtedly during the cold season and nights are relatively colder and longer than the days, you can enjoy a relatively sunnier Christmas in Singapore. In Singapore, Christmas is no longer a festival for only Christians and Catholics, it is widely celebrated by non Christians and all races.
Though you will be able to enjoy Singapore Christmas virtually from anywhere in Singapore but there is a place that you must visit if you are here in Singapore during the Christmas Season.
Orchard Road is the place which you must visit during Christmas.
Every Christmas in Singapore, Orchard Road and Marina Bay's streets glow with stunning light shows that blaze through the island's prime shopping and entertainment districts. This, combined with the late mall hours and promos put in place during Christmas season, make nighttime shopping in Singapore way more fun.
Orchard Road Christmas Light-Up. The Orchard Road light-up - a spectacular street-length light show - stretches a mile and a half down from the Scotts/Paterson junction to the Grange Road intersection.
There are also numerous entertainment features that you can take part in during Singapore Christmas, such as live music shows, Christmas parties and Christmas count down. In all churches, special services will also be held on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning to mark this special day.
2014's Orchard Light-Up begins on November 15, 2014, and shuts down on January 1, 2015.
Christmas in Singapore is a big celebration that gives the locals another excuse to do what they love most: Eat and Shop (My Favourite). :)
Treat yourself in a feast like a King at a Christmas Buffet
Singaporeans absolutely adore all-you-can-eat buffet-style meals - any good hotel will have one. At Christmas, buffets go into festive season overdrive, with an endless
assortment of glazed ham and turkey and scrumptious Christmas
delicacies and cakes.
Christmas Shopping Madness
During Christmas season most of the shopping malls at orchard will extend the shopping hours from 9p.m. to 11.00p.m. and have discounts ranging from 5% to 70%
with some additional special discounts for credit card holders issued
by different Banks. So do prepare your shopping list if you are coming
to Singapore during Christmas to grab this remarkable shopping
opportunity to buy Christmas present for your loved ones.If you don’t mind the frenzy, there is no better way to shop. The famous shopping belt on Orchard Road is spectacularly lit up every December to ramp up the festive mood, and serves as a blazing reminder to hit the malls.
The tax-free shopping in Singapore benefits tourists who come to spend Christmas in town; they can redeem the tax they pay on their shopping as soon as they leave the country.
Global Blue Promotion. From November 15 to January 1, tourists who request a tax refund on their Singapore shopping purchases get a chance to win a return trip to Singapore.
At its heart, the holiday is still a special day for Singapore’s many Christians. It’s a religious celebration like any other, except over here, everyone gets to take part in the frenzy and the fun of fake snow, men in Santa suits and of course, Christmas presents!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
